American Blues Rocker Band

George Thorogood & The Destroyers

Coming to The Peabody, Daytona Beach

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m.

Daytona Beach, FL – September 29, 2015 – It’s 2015, and George Thorogood & The Destroyers are “Badder Than Ever” and coming to The Peabody, Daytona Beach

March 17, 2016 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m.

George Thorogood has been an American blues rocker for more than four decades, and he’s still going strong. The man who formed “The Destroyers” back in 1973 is most well-known for his original song “Bad to the Bone,” a tune that continues to get airplay today and has been used in film, television, commercials and sporting events over the years.

Thorogood and his band have released more than twenty albums, including two that were certified Platinum, six that were certified Gold, and have sold fifteen million albums worldwide.

George’s "high-energy boogie-blues" sound became a staple of 1980s rock radio, with hits like his original songs "Bad to the Bone" and "I Drink Alone". He has also helped popularize older songs by American icons, such as "Move It on Over," "Who Do You Love?" and "House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," which became staples of classic rock radio.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers  – whose lineup includes Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Buddy Leach (saxophone), and Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar),  performed more than 100 live concerts last year, touring the U.S. and Canada with their powerhouse rock with bar band roots, unchained attitude, and a fierce love of their country and blues history.

Thorogood himself is best-known for his animated stage presence and loud, raucous electric slide guitar playing. He is also known as "Lonesome George.”

“Every night when I walk out on that stage it’s the highlight of my career,” said George Thorogood. “I hit that first chord, the band kicks in, and we hear the audience respond. That’s the rush. Over 40 years into this, and every night that’s still the only moment that matters.”

For George Thorogood & The Destroyers – and for rock & roll – it doesn’t get badder-to-the-bone than that!

The Outlaws Open for George Thorogood & The Destroyers:

Formed in Tampa in 1972, The Outlaws – known for their triple-guitar rock attack and three-part country harmonies – became one of the first acts signed by Clive Davis (at the urging of Ronnie Van Zant) to his then-fledgling Arista Records. The band’s first three albums – The Outlaws, Lady In Waiting and Hurry Sundown – featuring such rock radio favorites as “There Goes Another Love Song,” “Green Grass & High Tides,” “Knoxville Girl” and “Freeborn Man” – would become worldwide Gold and Platinum landmarks of the Southern Rock era. Known as ‘The Florida Guitar Army’ by their fans, The Outlaws earned a formidable reputation as an incendiary live act touring with friends The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Charlie Daniels Band as well as The Doobie Brothers, The Who, Eagles and The Rolling Stones.

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m. and will be available for purchase at the Peabody Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets, Wal-Mart Supercenters, call 800-745-3000 or online at www.PeabodyDaytona.com. 1970’s Music Phenomenon

TONY ORLANDO

At The Peabody, Daytona Beach

Tickets on sale Friday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m.

Daytona Beach, FL – October 23, 2015…1970’S music phenomenon Tony Orlando is coming to The Peabody March 23, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this amazing concert go on sale Friday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m.

No entertainer can move and excite an audience like Tony Orlando. He brings to the stage a warmth and exhilarating energy that electrifies. From over 30 million selling records, five number one hits, a popular television variety series, movies and Broadway (Barnum and Smokey Joe’s Café), Tony Orlando has conquered every facet of show business.

Orlando, born and raised in New York City, began hitting the national charts at the age of 16 with “Halfway to Paradise” and “Bless You” as the first vocal artist to sign with Epic Records. He later routed his musical career to the nonperformance side and became one of the youngest vice presidents for CBS Records, heading their April-Blackwood music label.

Through no plans of his own, Tony was coaxed into putting his voice on a demo record for a song titled “Candida” for his friends Hank Medress and Dave Appell at Bell Records. The record was released under the name of the record promotion director’s daughter, Dawn.

“I think it is really the rule of show business that every big break you get, you back into it without knowing it at the time,” said Tony Orlando. “A few weeks after recording “Candida,” I had forgotten all about it. And then Hank Medress calls me and says, ‘Hey man, we’e got a hit.’ The crazy thing was the song kept climbing the charts till it hit number one.”

Hoping lightning would strike again, Medress had Orlando record “Knock Three Times.” The song not only became number one, it was the top song of 1971, selling over six million copies worldwide. The immense popularity of the song is still evident today. Tony’s recording of the song was featured in the hit movie Now and Then.

Amazingly enough, Tony hadn’t even begun to scratch the surface of his stardom. In 1973, he recorded “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree.” The song was number one for the year, became Orlando’s theme song and grew into an American anthem of hope and homecoming, reunion and renewal.

Orlando remains one of America’s best loved personalities. He has been a recipient of three American Music Awards and a People’s Choice Award. For outstanding achievements to the entertainment industry, Tony was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990.

A Night with Janis Joplin

Coming to Peabody Auditorium on April 20th

(10/27/15 – Daytona Beach) – For one performance only, A Night with Janis Joplin will be at Peabody Auditorium on April 20, 2016. Don’t miss this musical journey celebrating Janis Joplins and her biggest musical influences.

Tickets go On Sale this Friday at 10:30am and are available at the Peabody Auditorium Box Office, Charge by Phone at (800) 745-3000, or online at Ticketmaster.com.

Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the queen of rock ‘n’ roll. Her unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort, made Joplin a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock.

Now you’re invited to share an evening with the woman and her influences in Broadway’s critically-acclaimed musical, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, which the New York Times says “rocks the house.”

The production features such unforgettable songs as “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Mercedes Benz,” “Cry Baby” and “Summertime,” with a remarkable cast led by Tony Award nominee Mary Bridget Davies. A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN, written and directed by Randy Johnson, is a musical journey celebrating Joplin and her biggest musical influences—icons like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith—who inspired one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest legends.
