The Peabody
Advisory Board invites anyone interested in showcasing their
artistic talent to enter the “Peabody Poster Art
Contest.” The artist with the winning poster will
receive the honor of having his or her artwork displayed at
the Peabody Auditorium, reproduced, and posters sold. A cash
prize of $250 will be awarded to the winner, with 2nd, 3rd,
and 4th place prizes and Honorable Mention Awards granted as
well. All entries will be displayed at one or more
performances during the 2008-2009 season.
The Peabody Auditorium has engaged community members in a
diverse array of live performances and educational
experiences since its construction in 1948. Theatre,
entertainment, and civic programs have enriched people’s
lives and contributed to the economic vitality and cultural
richness of citizens in and around the City of Daytona
Beach; generations of patrons have been inspired by events
held at the historic Peabody Auditorium during its first 60
years. One of the largest performing arts centers in Central
Florida, the renovated Peabody’s future looks bright --
offerings in this 60th year will include the London Symphony
Orchestra, seven Broadway Shows including “Annie” and
“Hairspray,” legendary headliners, and a compilation of
comedians and concerts.
The Peabody will celebrate this 60th Anniversary milestone
at all performances and shows throughout the 2008-2009
season. Many events are planned, but the poster contest and
poster display will be the continuing centerpiece, from the
first show to the final season curtain. Contest rules and
the required waiver/release form are available below. Anyone
who is considering entering the contest should receive this
information. We look forward to receiving your entry!
Respectfully,
