March 27, 2012 - 7:00pm Neil Sedaka |
Neil Sedaka has played a major role in Rock ‘n Roll history for over 50 years as a singer and songwriter and shows no signs of slowing down. Classical roots and Julliard piano training shaped many of his early compositions including “Stupid Cupid,” a megahit recorded by Connie Francis, “Don’t Hide Your Love” recorded by Cher, and “Puppet Man” recorded by Tom Jones. Sedaka convinced RCA that he could record his own music -- the Sedaka hit list was born! The hits he wrote and recorded became “the music of our lives,” songs we associate instantly with memories, including “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” “Calendar Girl,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” “Oh! Carol” and countless others. Neil Sedaka continues to amaze; he’s a consummate musician, an extraordinary vocalist, and an ageless songwriting talent. | |||

March 31, 2012 - 7:30pm B.B. King |
| There is one King of the Blues—Riley B. King, affectionately known as B.B. King. Born on a cotton plantation in Mississippi in 1925, he played on street corners for dimes until he saved enough money to travel to Memphis where regular gigs and radio performances paved the road to his first number one hit, “Three O’clock Blues.” Thus started B. B. King’s national touring which has continued for over fifty years. Renowned for his complex guitar styling, single string runs punctuated by loud chords, subtle vibratos, and bent notes, B. B. King does it best. “I’m me,” he told Time Magazine in 1969, “blues is what I do best.” His honors and awards list fills seven pages and includes platinum records, gold records, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Kennedy Center Honors, multiple W.C. Handy Awards, fourteen Grammys, and the Presidential Medal of the Arts. | |||
